Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster
Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Don't you have too much free time?

A: Apparently.

Q: I mean, really. You = TOO MUCH FREE TIME.

A: Yes, yes. I get that a lot. As I've said before, though, these projects are more "a couple of hours here, a couple of hours there" where those "couple of hours" just pile up over the course of several months. I blame it on the fact that I don't watch a lot of television.

Q: Do you think you have enough LEGO?

A: No.

Q: Are you making some sort of statement about your own religious beliefs through this project?

A: I believe that everyone is entitled to their own faith or belief system - and one based on Pasta and Pirates sounds like a lot of fun. Beyond that, no, I really didn't have a "statement" in mind when I set out to build this church.

Q: How long did it take you to build the church? How many bricks did you use?

A: Construction took roughly four months in total - but most of that time was spent with the project just taking up space in my workshop. Actual building time was probably close to 30 hours. Since I just built things as I went along I have no count of the number of elements used. If I had to guess, it's probably about 3,000 or so.

Q: What are you going to do with the church now that it's built?

A: I'm not sure. Right now, I can't even get it out of my workshop - it's too big to fit through the door without tipping on it's side, and I'm not sure it would survive that. I don't plan to take it apart any tim in the near future, though.

Q: Have you gotten any media attention? Have any big web sites linked to you?

A: For this project, the one very important site link did indeed occur:

(That's a screen cap from Venganza.org, home of the FSM.)

In addition, I've been mentioned in such high-profile blogs as Oliver Willis and Screenhead, discussed on TotalFark.com (one day I'll make the main page, just you wait.), and had the link passed about in countless emails.

If you're visiting because you followed a link from somewhere cool, or if you're somewhere cool and about to link to me, please drop me a line and let me know about it. Thanks!
