Heinlein's Gay Deciever - In LEGO® Bricks The top cover of LEGO Gay is removable so that the interior of the ship can be seen. I took care that, even with the cover on, the interior is as functional as possible. Of note in this shot is the bulkhead door to the passenger's left, and the control surfaces available to the pilot. Gay was designed by Ford as a bachelor's yacht - the co-pilot didn't have much more to do than a passenger in a car today. That of course changed after Jake's time machine was mounted in Gay - now the copilot has access to the veriners. Sadly the crew arrangement shown here didn't happen in the book - true, this was the setup when everyone was first together in Gay - but the controls on the co-pilot station weren't installed yet. Ah well. You can't be 100% accurate all of the time. The back seats are bench-style, with retractable armrests. This allows for two to sit comfortably, and three to sit across when necessary. Although the pilots have separate seats, the passenger's seats are really one, built all the way across but separateted by armrests...which could be removed with screwdriver and sweat. The front seats are built to recline, but the rear seats are flush against the aft bulkhead. This next shot shows the medical kit mounted on the back of the pilot's chair. Pop turned pale, sweat broke out, he clenched his jaws, swallowed and reswallowed. Then his lips barely opened. "M'sheashick." You can also make out the keyboard mounted under the varineers - I thought it would be nice to have a backup way to enter programs into Gay if voice recognition failed for some reason.
