Space Jam....a popular movie from Warner Brothers. Space....a bizarre bootleg from the fringes of madness. This has got to be one of the goofiest bootleg concepts out there.
Instead of using Looney Tunes characters, or even the molds from the actual toy line, these bootlegs are made from ToyBiz Spider-Man figures!
Each bootleg comes blister-carded on the backer shown at right. The text "Not recommanded for Children under 5 years old" (Yes, that's RecommAnded.) appears on the top left of the card, just above the logo "Space". Below that is the legend "Movable arms and legs". The backboard of the goal reads "Champion Win". As usual, there is printing only on one side of the card.
There are two versions of the enclosed figure that I'm aware of.
The figure itself is cast from a ToyBiz Spider-Man mold, and then painted to look like a generic basketball player.
There are white wristbands on the figure's left wrist and right forearm(?), white socks, black trunks, black shoes with white laces and accents (laces and a generic Nike logo?), and a blue jersey with red piping - meant to resemble the circular part of the Space Jam logo.
The interesting thing is that NO ADDITIONAL CARVING was done on the figure! Let's take a closer look at the figure's head....
The mutliations to this figure don't end there, though. Let's zoom on down to the figure's right hand...
He's decorated in much the same style as #1, but with some color diffrences. Both wrist bands are the same (and in the same places), but the shoes are now blue, the trunks mustard-yellow, and the shirt white with red piping.
Jammer #2 is also cast from a Spider-Man body, but a different one than #1. The proof is when we zoom in on the right hand....
