Happy holidays, everyone. Thank you for reading.
I had intended for this to be the final Brick House comic…but I wanted to do some wrap up dialog and that didn’t really fit with what I wanted to say in today’s strip. So there will at least one more strip to say goodbye to this project, and a blog post or two about why I’ve finally decided to close the book on Whiskey and Scotch.
Thank you again, readers. You were a total pain in the ass sometimes, but I love you all anyway.
Way to ruin Christmas you Grinch.
Yeah, well. I figured honesty would be better than false hopes.
Would it really of been that hard to wait a couple days and then make the announcement? You could of easily said in the topic area that you’d be making a “special announcement in a couple days”. You wouldn’t of put it off that long and wouldn’t of destroyed xmas day for me.
I’m happy to have read all of these comics from start to end at least twice. I’ve loved it all the way and I am sad to see it go, it will be missed by many. I hope that some day you return to making brick comics, but if not at least stay with your legos. Was there a reason for finishing this now?
Thanks for the comments. I’ll cover my reasons in a blog post soon, but the TL:DR is really “work leaves me with no time, and after all these years I’m burnt out on Brick House”
I do plan to try and get back into the building side of things, so the site and occasional new content will still appear here from time to time.
I hate to see BH end. Seems like all my favorite Lego comics are ending. Good luck with future endeavors and come back from time to time.
Thanks.
I salute you, Christopher Doyle!
Heh. Thanks.
well, I come back to crap. Grade A crap. I’m so sad. I cant believe it ends with donut, luka, Frobot, all lst in the midst of time. plus, what happened to grichley?
I’m planning on talking about their fates some. Either in the final strip or in some blog posts.
If you could, I’d prefer it be settled in-strip. It’d at least be interesting to see what you had planned for them.
Also, were you serious about the story beginning to write itself again? Or was that some random comment? 😀
no, the last time we saw him, he was some stormtrooper guy but that was as of the 2011 advent just b4 whiskey entered the universe.
(I removed a very abrasive commenter, so this post is kind of orphaned. The original post was asking about Grinchley’s fate.)
And yeah, I’ll make sure to reveal what I had planned with Grinchley.
:c
Honestly, while individual strips have still been funny, I feel like this comic lost its way a while ago. So while getting it back on course (at least long enough for a proper ending) would have been preferable, I can understand while you’d want to call it off, especially since it sounds like things have been pretty rough in real life.
(Also, to certain other commenters : it’s Doyle’s comic and he can end it when he wants. Sheesh).
Yeah, I’m in agreement on the “lost its way” thing. Something else I’ll talk more about at some point.
“Lost its way” implied this comic had any obvious direction in the first place. I think we were clued in that it was just a fun random adventure around when you introduced the pirate ninjas and ninja pirates.
You didn’t even give a vague resolution to the remaining (obvious) plot points.
Well, Doyle. I had been here since the start of the reboot, watching. and now that I have an account, it ends. it will be strange, to get to life instead of racing to the computer. this website is in my most visited area XD.
Wow…so many unfinished plots…anyways, its been great reading this comic and good luck in the future 😀
but, I mean, still. it will end well, and hopefuly explain everything. to me, thi was a big book series, and I was always so scared it would end.
I’m sad its over but thank you for the comic.
I probably wont come back, guys. if I don’t read the last part, it will feel like it hasn’t ended..
This was a fun comic and you should be very proud of it.
Best of luck with enjoying life more and I look forward to see what other projects you might be able to get around to now.
Got to say im sad to see it end. Been a viewer for years and never commented and with it ending soon i just wanted to say.
Thanks for the laughs and good times. You made me laugh on some off the worst days and always kept me entertained. Thanks man.
Chris, thanks for doing this over so many years of fun. Will miss brick house and the characters that you have created. Good luck for the future.
Thanks for the comics. Its been a lot of fun over the years. In the last year, I have really enjoyed the characters reviews of the minifigs.I don’t want it to end but I’m glad you are bowing out gracefully now rather than letting it wind down or leave us hanging.
Merry Christmas and good luck with your future endeavours.
You just destroyed something a legion of fans love. Merry Christmas, Doyle. Maybe it could only be the Brick House ending? You remember that after 13 and Mary Beth got married Fox, Wash, Bunkey, and Mary Sue went in your Watchman ship to go hunt Bilbo Fett. You could make that a NEW COMIC SERIES! (With some cameos by Brick House characters!)
YES!!
looks like you came back xD
A now ended Lego blog called the Ugly Duckling led me hear in 2010. The current strip was #953. It has been a wild 3 year ride Chris, don’t say goodbye, not forever.
I couldn’t take it. I have to see this off. it took up a part of my life. I found it on the reboot, and stayed up half the night reading it from beginning to the reboot.
I always knew that Whiskey would end saying something like that.
Chris, thank you so much for creating and running this blog for as long as you have done.
It certainly gave me the confidence to create my own blog and publish stuff on a regular basis, but without the continuous threadline that you have had.
I fully understand (from the reasons you gave for the pre-christmas haitus) that it can be very time consuming, and if your life has changed then there is a need to re-evaluate everything.
Gods speed and good wishes.,
And many, many thanks.
Dolye ,thank you for this world from cola wars to, zombies to, Advent Madness ,to Fox and Wash’s kids getting kidnapped and being raised by Scotch’s brother ,to Whiskey going ,to Heartlake City after Advent, to leaving your house after putting you in a coma, to coming back through a mysterious portal to Heartlake, to getting you out of a coma,to Collectible Series 10, to this last Advent Madness, you have always made you readers laugh. Merry Christmas Doyle, and Happy New Year. I think that the strip sorta started falling apart after Mouse showed up. Then it went a few strips later to Advent Madness then to Heartlake then they put you in a coma and ran through the fourth wall the explored then did Lego Friends Advent Madness then back to Heartlake then you were out of a coma the you and Whiskey drank and conversed then a Hautis then Collectible Series 10 then this and now it’s going away. All of us fans salute you and your comic.
Well I’ve been reading this strip since just before episode 1000 and the epic duel, and I have to say you did a great job on the comic, and I too will miss it, although maybe now I’ll have an excuse to read the other strips and finally get the full story. The ending does seem rather abrupt what with the unclosed plotlines and all, but I trust you’ll do a good job of wrapping that up, and I hope that if you are ever able to make any more comics you’ll have had a good long break and you won’t be burnt out on it any more.
aww why does it end? make another comic thing plz
WHAT WHISKEY SAID WAS THE TITLE OF EPISODE 727!
Thanks for making my last moments alive socially awkward…so not quite the title, but close enough xD
I wish you luck with your future endeavors, Doyle!
Though I don’t think I’ve ever commented, Brick House was the first webcomic I ever started following, many many years (and several website changes) ago. The strangeness of Whiskey and Scotch’s adventures have inspired me to do so many things, and I’m sure they’ll keep on inspiring me for years to come.
I’m sad to see BH go, but at the same time, I’m glad to see you moving on with what’s enjoyable for you. 🙂
So good luck, and happy building!
I’m sorry to see it go. one of the greats falls this time.
I’m sorry for all these chains but maybe a little humor will brighten the mood. one freaking day for revenge on how they treat me I will walk up to one of the snob girls at my school and say, “Did it hurt?” and she goes, “did what hurt?” with a sigh, and I say, “when you slammed your face through the ground coming from the underworld.”
I’ve had a clue for about two years now, that you would end the comic. Ever since I found your site in 2007, I’ve had it bookmarked over 3 generations of laptops.
I wish you good luck with whatever project you’ll work on in the future! And maybe a cameo or two in Legostar Galactica, Tranquility Base or one of the other remaining brickomics.
I’ve been reading since roughly 2007. It’s really a shame to see this comic end. I found it the most hilarious thing in the world when the plot more or less ended in 2008 and went spiraling off to god knows where, yet it never seemed to matter since the core cast would remain as goofy as ever no matter where you sent them.
The only logical thing for me to do now is go back to the beginning and read through nearly a decade of comics and enjoy them all over again. It’s been a fantastic time following all this.
Very sad to hear Brick house is ending, it’s been a fantastically wacky ride and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. Even now years and years later I can’t help wondering what became of the ‘original’ universe after the cola zombie apocalypse.
All the best for the future Doyle.
Doyle, I just wanted to say there is a random page back in the 2010 advent, it says its comic number 6093. its directly after day 25 part two of advent wars.
you have made good jokes recently, like here:

“Awesome”
Thanks for the memories, Chris. Brick House was an awful lot of fun, but an awful lot of work you, too. Good luck to you and I’ll be sure to swing by your table the next time we both make it to Brick World or some such event.
Remember Connor from the bit from the charity auction and you put Connor and his sidekick Bionicle Toa in, that was great. Should you decide sometime down the line to start up again with a new story line, there you go! Although in this day and age, Toa is probably a little outdated. We will miss the Lego Advent strips for sure!
Thanks for all the great comics and Lego content. You may feel that BH lost its way, but I really enjoyed the twists, turns, stops, and starts. And the puns!
I hope you find time to update the site every so often- I enjoy your Lego builds! Best wishes to you!
Oh noes! 🙁 I just caught up! I entirely understand how life gets in the way of less day to day pursuits. Well, I had fun reading the whole thing starting a few/some years ago, and I’ll miss the possibility of new comics bringing together concepts from the past (that I would have probably forgotten by then anyway 😛 but still enjoyed). Best wishes in your life, and maybe just maybe I’ll get a chance to meet you someday at a Lego event! 🙂
All things end, It’s been good reading though. And good luck in your future endeavours.
I can’t remember how long I’ve been reading this strip, but when I found it I started reading at the beginning of the archive and I’ve been reading ever since.
I could tell you were having trouble producing this strip the last few years, as the hiatuses (hiati?) kept getting longer and longer, but you always managed to keep things funny so I kept reading. Thanks for that, and for persevering for so long. You did a lot of good work.
Time for a full reread from the beginning…
Chris I wish you farewell and hopefully sometime you will start doing Brick House again! But for now, farewell!
Worst. Ending. Ever!
agreed.
I get he doesn’t have that much time for the comic but would it really of taking that long for him to get the crew reunited at the BH for the first time in YEARS(even a cheesy reveal of whiskey being able to walk there the whole time would of worked), letting the crew spend a little time together, and then doing a short comic(like a 4 panel comic) for each of the main crew on the what direction he was taking them and what they are “doing” after the strip plus a couple for walk ons/random figures to have a proper series finally???
Sounds like a lot but the first part would of only taken a couple days, the spending time together would only have to be a few strips, plus about maybe 10 for the crew/extra comics, if that. Sure it’d of taking a little more time but at least he wouldn’t of left viewers with a sour taste in their mouth.
But no he takes the lazy way out. He cuts the comic off on CHRISTMAS DAY(doyle, would it of killed you to wait a couple days b4 dropping the bomb shell???) after creating this really amazing story line that left me waiting for more and chooses to end it with 3 blog posts(one of which we are STILL waiting on 6 months later) and a couple comics(still waiting)
Yeah. And for me it feels worse, because I’d forgotten about the comic for about a year because of the infrequent updates, then come back, catch up on what I’d missed and find this horrible ending. I know stuff happened to him over the course of this comic but what you suggested would have been far better. And a Christmas Day bombshell is unforgivable, that’s for sure.
Honestly, I just wish I had the right kinds of bricks to build my own sets so I could carry this on as a spiritual successor of sorts. But alas, I only have minor sets and nothing to make good stories from.
Also, what happened to that “So there will at least one more strip to say goodbye to this project” that you promised us 6 months ago?
> stumbles through door
> takes a look around
> finds a small pile of mildly aggressive sticky-notes
> gets a glass of milk from the fridge
> it’s still good
Ok, Chris. I really hope you’re still alive. Times are pretty rough for me, but I’m ok. I used the term “crap in a hat” the other day. I also saw a mint-in-box chewbacca bootleg at a boot-fair, with “Galaxy Empire” on the packaging. Anyway, you rock, hope things are going ok for you.
> wanders off to find a lighter for those sticky-notes
Does anyone know if Doyle is still alive???
Its been nearly 11 months since he dropped the bomb shell, standing at only 2 of the blog posts and ZERO of the comics promised, and we’ve had no “I’m still here” updates in months
Why do you question whether he’s still alive? Doyle has twitter and other sites he probably still uses, if he wasn’t alive, surely those other sites he is on would also be dead? Why jump to conclusions and try to preemptively proclaim him no longer able to produce comics? Give the man a rest, and let him come back at his leisure! Merry Christmas to one and all, and most especially to Christopher J. Doyle, during the festive season! I wish that you will get many gifts, no matter what you may be doing with your life! 😉
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

You’re not the only one upset. He drops a bombshell and and yet to at least finish what he promised to do. Still waiting on the final blog post and comics.
Hey Doyle. Its been a year and 3 months, hope your still doing well.
DOYLE! when are you going to give us the final comics and blog post you’ve been promising us for a year and a half!!!
Whoa, it’s been like a year or two since I’ve been back here. How are things treating you, Doyle?
Checking in. According to the trail of breadcrumbs, Doyle’s alive and running the Bricklink store. And back in June he actually bought something, gasp! Good to know you’re still making time for the brick, Doyle.
Now then, chuckleheads, you wanna support Chris, go buy the hordes of collectable minifigs he has for $5 each. Very reasonable considering some of those date all the way back to series 2.
i’ll consider making a purchase the day he bothers to release the final comics and blog post he’s left us waiting for for over a year and a half now
