Today, my tribute to “Classic X-Men”, selling you reprinted back issues at current cover prices. When I ran my comic shop back in the late 90’s this was a “new and exciting” idea from Marvel. The really wacky thing was that back issues of X-Men Classic started to become more valuable in the price guides. #1 and #2 of the series were selling for six or seven times their cover price. For a reprint. Insanity. No wonder the market crashed.

Ouch!
Well, really, reusing an old episode? Dude! I would never do something like that… ever… nope, definitely not… {innocent whistle}
(LOL, BTW!)
I’ll admit this one is a bit of a cheat. I thought I had an episode queued for today but apparently messed up my scheduling. This is about as quick-n-dirty as they get.
er
That is….I put a lot of thought into this strip! You just don’t understand the subtle complexities of the reboot. 😉
I guess comic piracy isn’t helping the market either =/
You forgot the #1 on the title, this makes it even funnier and more insane than your usual #1’s so far! Keep it coming! 😀
I remember buying classic Spiderman reprints in the early 1990s.
I haven’t thought about that in a long time. Thanks for the reminder.
Don’t talk to me about the comics market crash. The company I worked for was one of the many smaller ones to fold in the mid-90s. Yeah I’m still a little bitter.
We’re in the same boat, then. The crash caused me to close the doors of my shop.
Classic X-Men helped fill the gaps in my collection that eventually let me have a copy of every X-Men comic from #1 until 1997 then I stopped collecting comics.
That was the one good thing about the series…filling in gaps.
And, now that I think of it, some of the later issues had a new backup feature in addition to the reprint. (I think. It’s been a while.)
I had a full run from Giant-Size #1 to then-present. Had to sell 90% of them at the shop just to keep the doors open. Bleh.
AAARRRGGGHHH!!!!
You wanted the regular storyline back. Here it is. Commenting doesn’t make people care anymore. I’d like to say something, but I don’t think I can. So, nobody cares about your needs over the internet. So sit down, shut up, and wait.
You know if everyone keeps complaining about Doyle and his reboot, he’s just going to keep dragging it on as long as he wants. Know why? Because he can!
I, and the characters over at The Misadventures of the Trailer Park Trio fully support your reboot Doyle! *throws confetti*
I admit, I add another three reboot strips to the queue every time someone complains about them.
That’s at least 63 extra comics, then. If you’re not happy with the reboot, I think you should shut up about now 😛
BUT THEYRE SOOOOOOOOOO BORING!
….aaaaand that take us to Mid-October with Reboot strips.
Wait… if we’re deliberately complaining to get more reboot strips because we love this arc, does that work?
“This reboot is the worst thing since Joe Quesada said, ‘The kids want Spidey to be young and not married’ and then did it! Shame!”
Will that get us to November? 😉
Side note: I thought that “Classic X-Men” ran in the eighties. I thought I got my only issue of it from a friend in elementary school… very late eighties.
This one brings me back. I’ve been reading since about strip 41 so I still remember the early days of this comic quite well 😛
