A little out-of-continuity bonus strip to celebrate the Fourth Of July. My wife and I were driving home from Convergence late last night and were treated to fireworks pretty much from Chicago to Gary, Indiana. It was slightly inspiring.
(By the way, I read somewhere that the only reason Steve Perry used “South Detroit” is he needed a rhyme and “Chicago” didn’t scan.)
I was born and still live in So. Detroit. I’m in Canada often!
Teehee
i knew there was going to be some holiday tribute but not this.
also what did you use for those benches
Nothin’ better than a song in response to a guy from Winnipeg (i.e., Neil Young) to close off with after the Canadian issue, eh?
Or…
Bye, bye, this here rock-dude guy
Singin’ songs ’bout America that just don’t quite fly
Made in China for the Danes and for maybe Bill Nye.
We’ll buy them, we can’t tell a lie
Though the price hikes will make us cry…
Ah, those rock monsters. BTW, did you see this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTnhs5B0dlw
Y’know, the Fight Like Apes thing by Chris Salt with another band of singing rock monsters? I wanna try that singing lego lark someday.
Speaking of which, I did an animation of my own *Plug* http://www.youtube.com/user/jednetuk#p/u/8/XMkjPNQm4YM
Wastin’ away again in Margaritaville/searching my lost shaker of salt . . .
Believe it or don’t, I’ve been turned off by singing horrors far far worse. Some are even bad enough that they start to sound good if you listen long enough. But only till you wake up.
@jack- i think he used Chair pieces. go to http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=4079 to see.
Yes and “Born in the USA” is so patriotic :p
@jack: Near as I can tell, they’re just chairs mounted on a 1×6 plate set a stud away from the wall. What’s really nifty is the detailed tiling done around the entrance to the throne room.
@Chris: I only know if I had to think up something this good, it’d take me ages! Very nicely done!
@DrLegostar
People love that chorus, which is why you hear it at political rallies and such. Never mind all those annoying lyrics in between the refrains.
I like Chinese?
It’ll be fun teaching late Cold War culture to high school students someday. Play “Born in the USA” and ask what the argument is…
Chris: be glad that you didn’t post “Land Down Under” lyrics here, since Men at Work now need the money – http://www.avclub.com/articles/men-at-work-forced-to-share-down-under-royalties-f,42807/
Where’s todays comic???
Yea… I was wondering that too. :/
I can imagine how it sounds….
nice

Sorry guys – I’ve been at conventions for the past few weeks and I’m running late. Will have a new strip up tomorrow.
