Seeing as Kentucky’s state capital has a statue of Colonel Sanders and the original KFC is still in Corbin, Kentucky where they’re building a big statue (which PETA is protesting), i think the association between Colonel Sanders and KFC is still there. The fun things you learn living in Kentucky.
