It’s typical of TLG to not care about the playability value of new minifigs and make the friends legs a one-piece molded part with painted on areas. If they are going to make a new line they should at least make sure that it’s compatible with existing minifigs. Olivias soles are a prime example of why TLG should care more about playability than a new line.
Even normal minifigures are ‘changing’. Have you seen what’s been happening to female minifigs? Their hip areas on the torso’s have “squished in” sides with blacked-out edges to make them look thinner. Look, TLG, the charm of lego is that male or female it’s one size fits all. Don’t use cheap tactics to make minifigures appear thinner. If you want minifigs to appear more ‘female’ make torsos with breast-lines on them (but don’t overdo it), make more female faces (you know, to add to the THREE we seem to have in circulation) and more hairstyles (again, mostly male. Hair can be unisex but with certain faces they won’t look female).
And that brings me to tonight’s word: Advice.
It’s nothing new. Slave Leia had the darkened areas, as did that one female knight from Knight’s Kingdom I. It may be happening more now, but it isn’t on every female fig. I think that the variety of “body shapes” is an accurate depiction of real life. Some women are, to put it perhaps less than eloquently, shapely, while others are more unisex.
I get your point. I guess I only noticed it when it became more ommen. But even so, I don’t think we shouold have such variations with minifigures. Unisex pieces leave more usage for the parts, (we still need more fem heads) and the black lines look silly on the block minifigures. They’re lego, they don’t need to reflect real life down to body shapes – well, if they do why not just give us more torsos that look like the surfer and sumo? You only need to show body type if they’re not wearing anything, and even then we have plain yellow torsos.
sure. The Fairy Godmother you see on those keychains, the 2010 Castle Advent Queen, the pop singer, tennes girl and rock star from the collectable series…there are more, but I’m just naming a few. By ‘squished in’ it basically makes hei hips be drawn as if they’re thinner and there’s a black line on ieitherside.
You’re a gamer/LEGO fan? Wow, I never thought you’d be one 😛 Not once has this happened in a strip (well, maybe it has. You can forgive me for forgetting, as there ARE 1339 strips now :P)
This is gonna drag out for a long time isn’t it…
When isn’t something drug out for a long time?

Honestly wouldn’t have expected you to be the type of person to play a game like Diablo 3 so this strip was surprising.
Either that or it’s just a commentary on the fact that everyone I know is slowly vanishing.
I had a feeling this gag was coming.
Least he didnt take an arrow to the knee

haha, What an excuse! XD
Apparently my AV doesn’t like something in the google ads on this site and has suddenly decided to start denying them. *sighs*
