I tried that and it didn’t help. It may not be funny if you have to explain it, but it’s both un-funny AND aggravating to someone who doesn’t get it.
It’s a reference to leet speak – a rather annoying method of replacing letters with numbers and special characters. The episode number 1337 is “elite” in leet.
Surely 1337 is just “Leet” in leet…
