#1230 – A Brief Digression
Oct23
Today’s strip is based on a conversation between my wife and I this morning. Actually, it’s based on the reaction several people have had to the kid-with-the-whip.
It’s rare my wife has a strong reaction to anything LEGO does, but this one really bothered her. So, hey, who am I to deny her use of my strip as a soapbox?
At least it isn’t a showering santa, heh.
I’m willing to call leash on that thing due to the way it looks wrapped around itself at the end. A whip couldn’t do that very well, but other than that it doesn’t resemble a leash at all and the “collar” would be too small tor the dog. A really weird design decision in general, heh :/
I see a kid trying to teach his dog to jump through a hoop. I guess with LEGO, it’s all about how you hold the bricks.
I would just say the only difference is between the way that the object is held. In the LEGO Winter Village Bakery, it is used exclusively as a whip. Now, with a quick flip of top and bottom, you have the situation we are in now. Whip, collar, hoop, leash, call it what you must, but it’s all the same. The kid’s probably gonna get run over by the mail truck or hit by a precariously placed icicle before he has the chance to teach the dog any tricks anyway…;)
Yeaaah, I raised an eyebrow over that, but I think it is supposed to be a leash.
Now semi-naked showering Santa has no excuse, not does an alien space pimp.
I will not hear an alien space pimp denigrated on these boards.
When I saw this set on display the kid had the bone “tied” to the top of the whip piece. He was having it hang over the dog’s head in an attempt to train it to jump. This was perhaps not the best choice of pieces to depict this. It could have been worse though…
Is the Post Office going to play any part in the Advent Madness this year?
Could be. Depends on what path the advent takes this year.
What a nice husband you are 🙂
