Hero Factory is a cross between Bionicle and Galidor. I suppose if it sells well, we’ll receive more sets in that line. If it flops, who knows what will replace it?
I don’t plan on buying any of it at the moment, whatever happens to it.
I too was not planning on getting HF stuff, but since their new 2.0 stuff is less like BIONICLE and the villains from the first series were more like bionicles, I got those ones. Not too bad, but I think they should have kept the original Bionicle-style masks instead of the weird 2,9 hero’s heads.
Wow. I thought Grinchley was joking, but apparantly Ninjago really exists…
Seems to me TLG’s trying more and more to make fun of their older sets. First the Power Miners (awesome Rock Monsters, but other than that just a not-as-good-as-the-original rerun of Rock Raiders), then Naked Santa (no comments here…) and now… Ninjago. +1 for TLG for trying to create a new collectibles-game, but the non-game sets IMO just aren’t as stylish as the good old Samurai sets.
Or maybe I’m just being overly nostalgic now…
Oh and is it me or can we expect some more Giant Mechas in upcoming strips? 😛
I guess Grinchley was a Bionicle fan. I don’t blame him for being upset.
I was watching that ‘Clone Wars’ show on Cartoon Network a couple of nights ago and I saw an add: they’re making an animated movie for Ninjaga. Guess who won’t be watching it.
Was Pharoah’s Quest unavailable? It is, after all, the best of the 2011 themes thus far… and 2011 Atlantis isn’t half bad either. Ninjago, though… $10 for a minifig and some cards? At least KK2 gave you an action figure with a reasonable amount of parts with your cruddy card game.
@teh anonymous
well the only thing i could watch this weekend was cartoon network with the comersials in danish or some other languige like that like sweedish or something well that is one of the bad things of living in northen europe but i saw the same ad about milion times or something also the ad for the ninjago game cards and minifigs.
The 2.0 heroes are actually pretty darn good, lots of articulation. I’m still not a fan of the series though, buildable action figures aren’t my thing.
I got some Hero Factory sets for my birthday. I built them and then built a scene of my Bionicles slaying them. I would of taken a pic, but my fat cat sat on it. 🙁 Oh well, I can do it again later. 🙂 DIE HERO FACTORY!!!!! I SHALL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR BIONICLE REPLACING CRIMES!!!!!!
(P.S. Bionicle Stars sucked too. I’m disappointed with LEGO.)
@DoctorPlastastic and Andrew: YES!!! I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks Pharaoh’s Quest is better than Ninjago, and should have been done instead. To quote someone on BZPower: “I reject your ninjas and substitute my mummies!” Seriously Doyle; why not do Pharaoh’s Quest?? Even the title of this whole chapter points to the thene! (“Donut’s Quest”?? Hint, Hint!)
I didn’t really get any of the Bionicle Stars. Got Tahu, and he was alright, if only for the nostalgia effect. But quite frankly, the series started going down during the underwater season. Mind you, it wasn’t bad, but I read the signs…. At least the Inika season was brilliant.
Wanted to add: Pharaoh’s Quest doesn’t look that bad, but I would have rather seen a Johnny Thunder reboot. I know it’s basically the same thing, but Johnny was a big part of my childhood, and the online web games rivaled the Bionicle ones.
Agreed with Teh. Very much agreed. Although the games were not quite at the level of the first MNOG, but asking something to be *that* good seems a bit unfair.
As a diehard Bionicle fan, *I’m actually very glad it was canceled*. Hear me out. For starters- compare the Heros to the Stars, Glatorian, Agori, 08 matoran, Mata Nui titan set, Inika… You notice something? Yeah, they look far better, figure wise, although it is admitted that buildability is completely lacking in the HF 1.0. Secondly- go look up Greg’s script for Bionicle 2010. Or, for that matter, the produced script for Bionicle 2009. THEY ARE HORRIBLE AND HAVE NOTHING BUT A TANGENTAL CONNECTION TO BIONICLE. Better to start an all-new series and end Bionicle a year after the bang of 08 then have it slowly decline into a theme with no real connection to the fantastic Bionicle line of 2001. I am also willing to defend 1.0 over 2.0, but don’t have space here.
(ducks incoming attacks)
And yes, on Pharoah’s Quest, of course, it should have been a Johnny Thunder reboot, but these guys are great enough I forgive them.

Wow, Grinchley makes Pai Mei look positively placid.

I was a Bionicle fan. Hero Factory is made of cheap, crappy material’s, and it’s terrrible. I do NOT reccomend buying any!
I think Grinchley is quickly becoming my favorite character. He’s hi-larious!

thank god i’s not hero factory or I would have exploded out of hatred.
I also like how there’s a decapitated ninja on the floor
that is a ninja outfitt unownrule.
This week is just fuel for us to rant about how LEGO’s current themes are extremely lacking.
I proclaim only that I like Pharoah’s Quest and that I will resist the urge to defend Hero Factory.

Star Wars shall always be the best theme.
Reminds me of Luke and Yoda.
Looks like the Hero Factory has terrible customer service.
That said, Hero Factory 2011 > Ninjago 2011, anytime. Period.
Ryan
i wonder what other themes are in stocktown
did any1 else see the new root chicken lego skecth to funny
i meant robot

at least im not alone on hating hero factory…
I feel so out of this conversation…I’m too young and have no older siblings (or Lego loving parents) who could have introduced me to Bionicle. :-/
@ Pollinette: I feel your pain. I think I’m the only LEGO fan my age in my area.
@ZACKTRON That line on BZP was written by me, actually. I’m Andrewnuva199
Who needs backstory with Hero Factory to hate it? :/
amen, grinchly. amen
Hero factory. lego has forsaken us all……………………
