#1000 – Part I – Bridging the Gap
Aug12
First, for those of you following Brick House on our RSS feed – there’s a glitch in the latest update of the ComicPress theme that’s preventing images from showing. Untill that’s patched, you’ll need to click through for the comic. Normal service will return as soon as possible.
Second, welcome to part one of the 1000th episode of Brick House. That’s a big round number, isn’t it?ย To celebrate, the first of a couple of double-length strips.
Odd fact: Due to double posts, bonus posts, and the S-Team hiatus-crossover, this is *actually* Episode #1067. At least that’s what the WordPress post count is telling me.
For those of you who are curious about the march, but haven’t seen the film, here’s what you’re missing.
WooT! First one to see! Knew everything happening now would have to happen
e p i c n e s s !
thats all I can say
Dig has already said she and her rock monster brethren are pacifist types, so what exactly does Harry expect her to do?
That being said, I hope nobody tries to land a helicopter during the fight, or there’s going to be problems! ๐
‘Epic comic is epic!’
Great use of the airfield roadplate, Doyle!
…..I can’t help but expect an Obi-One minifig to strip and set off a detonator now. ๐ฎ
I’ve never seen Bridge Over the River Kwai but I somehow knew instantly what song they were whistling. I love it when random memories of cub scouts invades my thoughts.
Congratz Doyle! 1000 comics and still going strong!
I like how you made todays comic double lenght, just like in the old days. Can’t wait for more!
i know the words of that song actully an allied march that went like this hitler has only got one ball goring has to but very small himmler’s got somthin simlller and poor old goballs has no balls at all
so the rock monsters were insulting the nazi’s
The build up to #1,000 was intense, and the episode doesn’t disappoint. Considering “Bridge on the River Kwai” is one of the greatest war films ever, it was very appropriate for the upcoming battle between Harry and Donut (a battle which, I figure, won’t happen because Whiskey is about to step back into the picture. I’m just guessing here).
Congrats on #1,067!
Nicely epic, well done.
Fantastic work, Doyle. I can’t wait to see how this shakes out.
And congratulations on reaching 1,000 episodes. That’s a hell of an accomplishment.
Congrats on reaching 1000!
Congratulations, Chris! Whether it’s 1000 or 1067, it’s still a great accomplishment!
Readers who grew up in the ’80s may remember the whistling theme as the one they whistled during The Breakfast Club.
1000, I only have a year togo for 1000. Obi Wan was so young in Bridge on the River Kwai wasn’t he? I now have an image of Magnum blowing up Higgins’ precious model of it durring one of their special moments.
Yippy kay ey! He went back to 8 pics! Oh, I guess this means I cant stab someone… bummer…
PS, When Harry turned around to say “I will kill him” why didn’t Donut through his knife into harrys neck?
@Siabur: Young, but still amazing.
@Samuel: Because Donut really doesn’t want to fight. Plus, he knows better than to interrupt one of my tributes to “Dune.”
chris iv never seen the movie (i think) but i know the tune
good movie I liked it alot. you should make the rock people sing beat it during the knife fight
I hope this marks the return of the double length comic!
Congrats, Chris! It’s appropriately epic and editorially amok, with winning pop culture bundled in.
…I’ve only seen the end of “Bridge,” sadly. Golf trumped my father-in-law’s television, and there was nothing else to do out there that day, so I just watched the end of the film. I do want to see the rest, though.
I thought that was the HyperDrive theme.

kman, you’re way ahead of me. That was my first thought too!
(maybe the ninjas who got stuck in that factory will escape and help out?)
Ooh! I wish they had! That’s an awesome idea!
ah yes, the bogey march. a very well known song and one that gets stuck in my head rather easily. I half expect the french chef to come running out and mess things up.
El Stud is perfectly lined up to run up and tackle Harry in panel 1…
And I knew the song too, not from the movie, but Nintendogs -.-‘
The only thing that could make this battle more epic is if the Ninja-Pirates and Pirate-Ninjas came in and attacked!
Congratulations on getting to this milestone, Chris!
Yes! Great job, Doyle! Finally comic #1000… I’ve been reading this webcomic for three years, and you’ve done a great job! Keep up the great work!
Hey Chris, congratulations on getting to episode 1000! I’ve been following the comic for a bit over a year now. It took me a while to get all caught up, but since then I’ve been reading it every day.
‘Trip’! Trip, dammit! That’s the worst of all possible typos in that sentence!
๐ Sorry Sir Alec….
@Ryubbert: I was worried I had missed an x-rated episode of “Clone Wars” or something.
Are those rock monsters the rock creatures Donut was talking about on this comic
Am i the only 1 who noticed the skater dude on the bus?
I saw it too, Randomizer
I was worried I had missed an x-rated episode of โClone Warsโ or something.
>_<
Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa [/catholic]
It may be 2013 but I still love to go back to the old strips of Brick House and reading them all day long! ๐
