For the record no alcohol was used to create this year’s story, such as it was.
Actually there’s a lot of stuff set up here that will continue into January and beyond. I’m just glad to be past the point where I have to work some random advent junk into the story every day…
…anyway. One more day to go.
In comparison, it’s down to the wire on which advent calendar will suck more overall.
CITY gives us a dog and a couple of bones. Not bad – at least the dog has some printing on it. And there are sure to be some animal lovers out there.
Star Wars gives us a pretty crappy tree. Really, LEGO? You couldn’t have sprung for a few more bricks to build something a bit more substantial after giving us a month of mini-MOCs?
My vote is on the dog. The dog is really cool and the bones are cool. Star wars is pretty lousy in the tree department..
The one thing that could redeem the craptastic star wars calendar tomorrow?
Jedi santa claus, riding in a hover-sleigh.
…but a Chrome Vader would do too 😛
While searching wallyworld for some ammo, I noticed several of them have huge amounts of Star Wars Advents on shelves 1/2 off. I’d only pick one up after xmas as long as it’s a deep discount. Glad I didn’t pick one up at TRU, $50? Really?
I swear, earlier today I assumed that there was another week to go before Christmas because there’s been barely anything to the Advent Calendars. No joke – and I don’t even own them this go ’round. I don’t even know if 50% off is low enough for the SW Calendar – sure, there’s a fair number of minifigs of note (what, three?, but the pieces and builds just look utterly slipshod and underwhelming.
I’m voting now for a return to Castle (wait, no, LOTR) or to Pirates (is there another Disney film from that line) or to… “Life on Mars?” Those Farm sets? “Galidor?” …nah, that’s too far.
Hm, yes, because we ALL remember the most important part of Star Wars where Luke had to fight against Darth Tree, right?
what the hell has a christmas tree got to do with star wars? but i vote dog because in both calenders there has been a christmas tree
it may not have much to do with star wars but it has a lot to do with christmas, which is the whole point. I vote tree because I want to be different
A magic wand for a star? I mean, I knew Lego would cut corners, but damn.
hey, the city tree used a stud as the star, now that’s cutting corners!
besides this tree is as different design to previous years which have all used the same, triangle, sticky-out bits-on-the-side design of tree.
At least the tried to imitate a star in he City one. In my opinion, this just looks awkward and out of place, sticking about a centimetre above the tree and such.
And hey, there’s nothing wrong with doing something different, but It’s bit hard to take it seriously if the new design is more lazy than the old one.
Doyle, I admire you for sticking out instead of tossing this year’s advent sets into a barrel and setting them on fire. At least the dog is worth having (just kidding, parts is parts, after all). I too am hoping to snag at least the Star Wars calendar on deep discount next Monday because I’m certainly not paying full price!
He’ll probably throw them in a barrel after he’s done.
I find that Lego is skimming more and more off these calenders every year. And the themes? Whats next? The piece-a-day micro-scale calender? The not related to Christmas calender?
Oh wait…
I’ve heard people complaining that the Star Wars calander isn’t christmasy enough and then when it actually gives us something christmasy people complain that it’s not Star Wars enough!
Thank you! It’s a Star Wars calender. The castle calender wasn’t Christmas-y at all, but people look back on it with fond memories. Personally, I find the Star Wars calender to be both well executed (for the most part) and a fun part of my mornings.
A tree that would fit in well in Charlie Brown’s Christmas special, or a dog with printing and a couple of bones?
The dog wins handily, imo.
That would be great if you couldn’t get the exact same dog in several other sets, there’s hardly anything even remotely original about this dog or it’s bones. They didn’t even try to make him a kennel, not that TLG would ever go that far for a mere Advent calendar.
Man, pretty suckish tree that LEGO Star Wars gave us today…
Wow….that’s just sad……………F U SW TREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That tree in the Star Wars Advent Calendar looks like it came out of a Peanuts comic. A very Charlie Brown way to celebrate Christmas. By the way, Merry Christmas Chris!
