No, he still hasn’t tried the coffee. Soon. I promise.
Today’s CITY model pisses me off. Oh, it’s a nice enough model – easily recognizable as a snow mobile. Even comes with an extra ski for the front. But you know what it’s missing? A 2×2 boat plate for the back. (That’s one of those inverted discs that helps LEGO models slide along flat surfaces) You can tell this thing was designed with that part in mind…but it must have gotten axed at the last moment as a cost cutting move. The whole CITY Calendar is full of spots where one or two more bricks would have created a polished, finished product.
Makes me grumpy.
Star Wars has a nice Mini-TIE model. Very simple, but a good use of parts. With all the micro models, though, I can’t help but be bothered that the MSRP on this is $5 more than the CITY set. I know licensing is expensive, but….really.
Eh. Maybe I’m just in a bad mood.
BLECH! Both sets are pretty bland but the snowmobile gets my vote. There’s the skis which could come in handy plus the interesting orange bits.
quick grammar correction: “I can help but be bothered” should be “I can’t help but be bothered”. If your first version was correct, then you COULD help yourself from feeling bothered about it. If you correct it to “I can’t help but be bothered” then it means you honestly could not NOT be bothered. It’s like saying “I could care less” instead of “I couldn’t care less”, where the first one means you could care anything from this much to this much *points at the sky*, while the latter correct term means you could not possibly care any less for it than you currently do, which is minimal.

Quick spelling correction: “[/Grammanazi]” should be “[/Grammarnazi]”.

On topic: I am really displeased with BOTH models. The City model has been done at least once before (in a way better way) and the SW one… Let’s just say that Chris’ comment about 1/1-round-tile-mini-Death-Star-models starts becoming more and more likely to me.
I couldn’t agree more
excellent example. That means it would be impossible for you to agree any more than you currently do. I only made that post because I’d been watching David Mitchell’s Soap Box.
damn my typo!
Actually that was just a typo on my part. But thanks for the catch.
Despite the blandness of both sets, I still have to vote for the snow mobile. The amount of minis in the star wars series is astounding and the simplicity of many of them just makes the entire set way too expensive.
Tiny, tiny little models = utterly negligible interest. All I’m missing is the black R2 unit and a Santa Yoda? And it’s $50 CDN? Bite me. I’ll take armies of criminals over that (well, no, not quite – unless they’re free).
I like the tie fighter but… At 7 pcs there should have been two of them! Nice to see lt bley 1×1 with studs all over, though. Don’t think you find those so often.
It’s going to be quite a while before Whiskey can get shitfaced.
