Cops love pepper spray. It’s a known fact.
Anyway.
Comparison time.
So from CITY we have…the wall of a jail cell.
And from Star Wars we have a micro-giant droid walker.
At least I recognized today’s Star Wars thing. It’s an interesting build with some good greebly bits to reuse later on.
The wall….wow. Not very impressive, is it? There’s a connection pin on the blue brick, so obviously LEGO will be adding to this wall later in the month. But…really? Just one small part of a wall?
City in my book. I can see the parts being really handy in different projects.
I like the star wars thing, you can never have enough robotic spiders.
Speaking of robotic spiders I wonder when the star wars stuff is going to come into play, heh.
I’d have to go with Star Wars on this one. Imagine kids all over the country excitedly opening up their advent calendars to get… A wall. Not very exiting, is it?
City:2
Star Wars:2
My little brother said
“I got a police station”
“That’s just a wall”
“I can pretend, can’t I???”
Dan you advent! Now I’m forced to say:
City: 3
SW: 1
eeeewwww, I feel so dirty for saying star wars had a GOOD set…
star wars have always had good sets
not in my view. Detailed? yes. “good”? No. “Overpriced”? VERY yes. The only thing that EVER tempts me to get one is the fact that I want some spacecraft. the skintoned figs can go to hell though. As can all the SW characters. Their lightsabers can stay though. Lightsabers aren’t bad.
>:P you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on LEGO, pill yourself together. Another day when I feel both sets are meh. Using similar reasoning to yesterday, the jail gives you a better supply of bricks to make your own models with, if I was a little kid, I would prefer the bricks to mess about with, therefore:
City: 2
Star Wars: 2
*pull
Incidentally: PILLS HERE!
I’ll be curious how they distribute the partial sets, since according to the box it looks like 8 days will be devoted to just 2 sets. Also, one of the images on http://shop.lego.com/en-US/LEGO-City-Advent-Calendar-7553 makes it look like there will be 3 crooks and 4 cops in the set. Hopefully the parts list is more accurate in there only being 2 of each.
Wow, going through a re-read of the entire comic and idly checking the comments and I see my icon. Totally forgot I had ever commented on one of the comics. Eleven years ago. How the time flies.
I have to say, I still have a couple of the Star Wars micro-builds from 2011 up, so in that regard, I guess Star Wars eventually was the winner. My mom still had some of the minifigs when I cleaned up her apartment last year. (Star Wars was a holiday tradition with us, so I would give her the Advent calendar every year to count down the days until I visited for Christmas.)
I did like that they tried something different in having cumulative sets in City, but none of the figures/builds had any lasting influence. At least the previous year had Shower Santa.
The only reason they have one piece of the (small) police station is because they can’t fit all the parts for the whole thing in one day.
