I’m still not quite sure what this guy is selling, but it sure seems the cops aren’t buying.
For those of you curious about my writing plan for the Advent – I’m firmly in the “making it up as I go along” camp this year. I haven’t peeked ahead to see what’s coming up (beyond looking at the box), and I’m writing each day’s strip as the items are revealed.Ā It’s a bit risky doing it this way as I could end up backed into a corner story-wise…but in the past this method had lead to the most enjoyable strips.
So we’ll see how it goes.
Click on through for a Day 3 comparison of the two Advent Calendar offerings!
In previous years the CITY advent has given us multiple copies of a policeman I like to call “Officer Grumpypants.” This year the first cop out of the box is decidedly more cheerful. Since he comes with two pairs of handcuffs and a big smile I’ve decided to call him “Officer Kinkypants”.
On the Star Wars side of the Advent we have….well….um….a thing. I had to go looking on-line to discover that this is supposed to be a battle droid of some kind. Maybe it’s from the Clone Wars show or something. Whatever it is, I sure didn’t recognize it.
So my personal choice for the day is going to have to be with our fun-loving officer. So far neither calendar is doing particularly well in my eyes…but the month is still very young.
How about you? Did you know what that Star Wars thing was supposed to be?
City again in my book. The torso looks like a new print and it’s overall an id’able item. The star wars thing i can’t tell what it is. Maybe it’s supposed to be a poorly made scorpian creature?
Somehow, that brown thing looks like it’s somehow related to mining.
Not sure how much intergalactic mining is featured in Star Wars, though.
Lucas missed out on a million and one mining jokes there! š
In my book:
City 3
Star Wars 0
…but I hate star wars.
That’s a mechnochair. It’s for Nute Gunray to sit and lord around on.
Well that would explain why we got Nute Gunray yesterday
I agree. Mechnochair for Gunray. He is a viceroy after all. I guess that means he gets a cool chair.
I’d agree, but wouldn’t the front legs be on upside down then?
I’m thinking of the little spider droid that carried Sideous’ hologram in 2 or 3…that was more balanced looking at least.
It’s the same thing.
Can only use so many parts in an advent calander mini-model. At this scale, accuracy means nearly nothing to LEGO, and you can’t blame them. But yes, it did show up in Episode I, possible II.
im pretty sure that the brown thing is a droidika
I don’t recognize the Star Wars thing either. I haven’t watched every episode of the show, but I have seen a good deal of The Clone Wars and I don’t remember seeing anything like that.
Because it was in the movies. (episode 1)
Not particularly fond of either of these, theres a million and one policemen figures, and like everyone else said, not sure what the Star Wars thing is supposed to be. If I was a kid and I got them both, at least I would be able to play with the blocks in the Star Wars set, so in terms of entertainment value, gonna go with Star Wars.
City: 1
Star Wars: 2
“Iām still not quite sure what this guy is selling…”
It looks to me like a launcher for TP-ing peoples’ houses. For those who don’t know what that means, toilet-papering is the act of throwing rolls of toilet paper over someone’s trees, cars, house, etc. It can be really hard to clean up, especially if it rains, and is similar to egging in how law enforcement treats it.
City, just because I don’t watch a lot of Star Wars and I have NO idea what that thing is.

Looking at the front of the City Advent Calendar box, it looks like Officer Grumpypants will be showing up later.
Officer Kinkypants! I’m giggling like a fool. š
City takes this round if for no other reason than the “Officer Kinkypants” comment. WINNING!!!!!
