No, I have no idea what this new guy is talking about either.
So…who wants to talk advent comparison?
So for December 2nd the CITY gives us a catapult. The Star Wars Advent gives us a creepy trade federation guy.
I’m leaning towards liking CITY more today. The Star Wars guy is pretty common while not exactly being an iconic figure from the series.
At least the city set has an extra part or two and the potential for re-use.
Still waiting for anything “Holiday Themed”, though.
I think i vote city again. Star wars is kinda creepy looking and the city is a little more usefull in the parts catagory.
I’m voting City on this one. A snow catapult (at least I think it is) is at least a little more christmasy than that creepy guy. Whether or not he’s creepier than last year’s Santa remains to be decided.
Creepy, but distinctive. I’m not sure how common the ‘fig is – there’s the Trade Federation shuttle set, and otherwise I’m drawing a blank. It’s a nice enough torso, and the hat is pretty distinctive. The face… well…
Still, the City set likely has to take it – though how many catapults have been in the two Advent Calendars over the last few years?
The face is great for zombies, if you’re into that sort of thing.
A catapult? I’ve always wanted to make a snowball catapult as a child, but building torsion springs and binding wood without any form of actual binding material (ie: nails) is not exactly trivial.
I got it out of my system a little bit when I grew up, as I made a large-ish LEGO catapult using some torsion springs assembled from some rope I had lying around (hey, I don’t have access to the hides that the Greeks, among others would often use!). It could shoot across my entire hallway on a good night. I was pretty happy. But it just doesn’t compare to the full size thing.
Maybe I should make a ballista, heh. I tried once, but failed horribly, resulting in my LEGO catapult as mentioned beforehand.
So, how does this apply to the current comic? Well, I’ve always wanted to make a snow catapult, as featured in this one 😛 (also, I wonder what the character’s reactions will be when they suddenly find the star wars stuff, heh)
Ehh…Well, the catapult can get Grinchley’s corpse out of the strip for a couple plot holes. My friend Nute ain’t looking too good…At least he doesn’t have the power to clog up toilets. 😉
That nute gunray guy is possibly the rarest figure in the star wars range! although now he’s in the calendar he’s a lot less rare.
Ok, maybe the crook is a janitor, as when I first saw the catapult it looked like a large shovel to me. I’ve never seen that minifig before and I love the colouring on it, so in my tally I think I’ll give this one to Star Wars.
City: 1
Star Wars: 1
Hygiene from a safe distance… I like the sound of that… 😀
Does Whiskey get the feeling this guy is going to catapult him into new Advent items? 😀
