Advent Madness: Day 14

VS

Everybody's working for the
Weekend. Everybody wants a new
LEGO Advent Battle.

- "Advent 14", a classic LEGO Haiku

DOOR NUMBER FOURTEEN

Could it be? It's not holiday themed, but....yes....it just might be....

IT IS!

A CITY mini-model we haven't seen before! Wow. After the past few days, I was afraid LEGO had given up on CITY completely. Perhaps not!

So. Now there's just the slight problem of figuring out what the heck it is...

I'll agree with the on-line guides and say "Car Wash Kiosk" It's an odd concept, but one that wouldn't be out of place at a smaller gas station or something.

Now if only they had given us a bikini-model yesterday to man the kiosk, instead of Oil Jr....

DOOR NUMBER FOURTEEN

Today from Belville we get a very storybook-themed item: A magic plant! In among the poison oak there's a magic flower that grows diamonds.

Or, perhaps it's more subtle than that. Perhaps this is based on the early versions of fairy tales - where everything was dark, evil, and out to eat the children.

Perhaps the shiny gem is just a lure to get the plant's prey in close enough to capture them with a burst of mind control pollen!

Yes, I think I like that option better.

JUDGMENT:

In a rare treat, both doors were pretty interesting today. I'm giving the win to CITY for more parts, a more complex build, and because they made the transition from "hairbrush in Belville" to "scrub brush in CITY" very believable.

How, exactly, is this holiday themed?

Nick:

What are you talking about? I pointed out that CITY wasn't holiday themed, and that Belville had a "Storybook" theme.

You know, at first glance, I honestly thought it was one of those pet grooming stations - but there's no veterinarian minifig, sadly.

If LEGO does another city theme (god, I hope not), they better stick a veterinarian in there somewhere.

The red/white/green color combo has been used by LEGO for years to represent their fictional "OCTAN" oil brand. Is that what you're referring to?

Chris: My mistake, I reread and saw that it was something we haven't seen before, not holiday themed.
